What Is Etching?

Etching is the process of using something strong and sharp to cut into materials and surfaces, to create lines and designs. Ink is then filled into these lines, and printed onto paper. It is a method of printmaking, along with engraving and lino printing, and is the most important technique for old master prints. Etching remains i wide use today.
